I was born in Liverpool in 2002 - and have lived here all of my life. It’s such a lovely City with so many things to see and do, and I couldn’t even think about moving anywhere else!
I have always had a creative mind - and with my mum being a children’s author, I loved the idea of being able to bring my own ideas to life!
In early 2016, I got myself my first set of drawing inks, and as soon as I got my hands on them, I knew that it was the start of something exciting! I drew, drew and drew, from aliens to monsters, I tried everything – and then I received an email, somebody had asked me to illustrate their book! This made me uncover that people were willing to pay for my work – and consequently, I set up SWI, which is most definitely the best decision I’ve ever made.
All of my work is hand drawn. I find this is the best way to illustrate, traditionally. I use high quality watercolour paper, liquid watercolours and Indian ink for all of my designs, which leaves lovely, colourful and unique final images.
My logo has played a huge part of my business, and with sloths being quite a popular animal, I’ve noticed it being recognised at markets I’ve sold at (which is always so nice to see)! It doesn’t have much of a story behind it - other than, if I was an animal, I’d choose to be a sloth!
I currently offer picture book illustrations, commercial illustrations and personalised cartoon portraits, along with having a wide range of fun and colourful products up for sale. It’s so fun to be given the opportunity to work on new projects, as each and every one of them is completely different to the last!
My most popular service is definitely my Personalised Cartoon Portraits. I first began to offer these in early 2017, and they have proven to be quite popular! I offer 4 different types; family, pet, single and wedding – it’s so nice to be able to bring out the personalities of people (and animals) in a completely different and quirky way to what you’d normally find.
I always have music playing whilst I’m working; Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and Guns N’ Roses are my favourites! You’ll never find me singing though… that’s not really my strong point!
I work from home at my desk, which I happen to spend a lot of time sitting at! My desk is what I like to call a ‘tidy mess’, with some very interesting things living on it such as a wolf’s tooth and my lucky blue stone! My desk is also next to my fish tank, which is home to my two clownfish (yes, one’s called Nemo!).
I love anything to do with animals, which makes it quite obvious why Chester Zoo is my favourite place to visit! It’s so sad to hear how many different species are endangered though, which brings me onto my next point…
My plans for the future are quite simple – to become as eco-friendly as possible. It really does scare me to hear things like, ‘there’ll be more plastic in the ocean than fish by 2050’, and this is the reason for what I plan to do.
I’m so grateful for all the support I’ve had so far - and can’t wait for what the future has in store for me!
